A big thank you goes out to everyone who came out to enjoy the Mystery Hike at Mirror Lake State Park on Saturday and helped to support the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park.  Read our blog about the event here.  Also remember that this coming Saturday, Halloween night, Devil’s Lake State Park will be holding it’s annual Halloween Hike.  Meet at the North Shore Shelter down by the Boat Landing right after Dark!

Oct 24th from 5:30 – 8:30 Mirror Lake State Park will be holding it’s annual Halloween Candlelight Hike. This is one of our family’s favorite events!  We start the day early by heading to Sky High Apple Orchard near Devil’s Lake State Park. From there we drive on over to Wollersheim Winery in Sauk Prairie for a glass of wine among the vineyards.  From there we’re off to Mirror Lake State Park to enjoy a hike through the woods and a snack provided by the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park.  What a great day!

*update: The (non-scary) Mystery Hike will take you along an easy 1 mile torch lit trail. Bring your thinking cap and meet down at the beach picnic area for an exciting hike. After the hike, stay warm by the bonfires and enjoy brats, hotdogs, snacks and refreshments that the Friends of MLSP will have for sale. Costumes are optional but definitely welcome!  State Park Admission Sticker is required for vehicle parking.

If you’ve never tried let me tell you right now it’s almost impossible to get Google to correct listing mistakes.  One such mistake is the phone number Google displays for Mirror Lake State Park with the map.  The phone number is listed as 254-3333 which is WRONG… THE CORRECT PHONE NUMBER IS 254-2333.   What’s more is the phone number was also incorrectly listed in a local phone book as well.  Certainly frustrating!

I just had an email come from Jan Primus who is the President of the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park reminding everyone that this Saturday night is the annual Candlelight Hike & Ski at Mirror Lake.  It looks like daytime temperatures may get close to 40f which is much more agreeable that it has been recently.  So why not do a little something about that cabin fever and head over to Mirror Lake State park on Saturday from 6-8PM.  There will be hot drinks and baked goods available as well as a big fire to warm yourselves up. If you have any questions just call the park at 608) 254-2333.

Conditions as of Monday, June 9, 2008:

Recent storms have affected the park. Power is out in the campgrounds, so showers and electrical hookups are not operational.

Water is overtopping the Mirror Lake Dam, and officials are concerned that the dam might fail.

Site was down a bit yesterday. Sorry for that. We still fiddling with the upgrade.  Sometimes when you do that things blow up!
